1999 Celebrations


On Sunday, May 16 at 1:30 PM the Syttende Mai celebrations began with the Childrens Parade followed by plenty of entertainment.

On Monday, May 17th at 9:00 AM, the formal flag raising ceremonies were conducted at the entrance to Balboa Park, followed by a coffee social at the Hall of Pacific Relations.

On May 30, 1999 a gala dinner with approximately 640 guests was held at the Hotel Del Coronado. Our guest of honor was His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. As usual, a delicious dinner was served, and this year we were proud to have San Diego's leading show band, the Mar Dels, entertain us after dinner. Retired Naval Captain, Roy Tobin, was our "Master of Ceremonies" and KUSI's Ms. Andrea Naversen was the "Key Note Speaker".
